This course emphasizes the following major fields in preparation for college-bound science majors; an ability read at an effective rate, comprehending text and reference materials; an ability to express in written form their knowledge and ideas about information covered; an ability to solve mathematical problems dealing with the units covered; lab techniques in quantitative and qualitative aspects.

This course will cover basic topics such as measurements, atomic structure equation, properties of elements, molecular structure, behavior of gases, problem solving, solutions and concentration, chemical equilibrium, acids/bases/salts, oxidation/reduction, and elector chemistry.

Prerequisite: Physical Science with a "B" grade or better; one year of Algebra with a "B" grade or better or biology with a "B" grade or better; one year of Algebra with a "B" grade or better.
