Biology (P) (d)
This course is a laboratory approach to college prep biology. The course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive background in biological concepts. It allows students to practice laboratory techniques, sharpen their study skills, and develop their abilities to analyze information. Such areas as cell study, biochemistry, genetics and evolution, plant and animal studies, human biology, health and disease, and ecological relationships are covered in depth. Through laboratory experimentation, students learn skills necessary to analyze basic concepts and apply their knowledge.
Our Science Department recognizes the need for increasing the students awareness of science and technology in their lives. Many fields in the biological sciences are open and available for our young people. College prep biology prepares and encourages students to take such courses in Human Anatomy/Physiology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Prerequisite: Grade on the Physical Science Skills Examination.
